This was the perfect way to gain freelance experience whilst I was finishing university and even following the completion of my degree. The platform is very easy to use and I would highly recommend it to all students looking to build up their experience and skills whilst being paid a fair hourly wage..

Student Eligibility.

■ To have your student application considered, you must be a current UK university student or recent UK graduate (having graduated within one year of registering) and above the age of 18.

■ If you are not studying (or have studied) at a UK university, you cannot register on Toptask. Students studying at academies/colleges are eligible if their institution is either affiliated with a university or their degree is backed up by a university.

■ If you are a registered student on Toptask, you may remain on the platform up to 2 years after your graduation date.

■ If you are on an international student visa (Tier 4 visa holder), you cannot carry out freelance or self-employed work with Toptask, unless you are a doctorate student. Toptask is a marketplace that classifies you as self-employed under the law. For more information about this please refer to the following Home Office document.

Application Process.

■ Download the Toptask app from either the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.

■ Register as a 'Student'. If you are a current university student, remember to provide a clear picture of your student ID card on your profile. If you are a recent graduate, you are welcome to provide a clear image of your graduation certificate and email a valid form of identification (e.g. driver's license or passport) to hello@toptask.co.uk.

Select your skills and write a short personal statement highlighting your past experience and academic credentials.

After registration, all eligible students can expect an email inviting them to book a 15 minute in-person interview with a member of our team. Please read the email carefully and only book if you match the relevant criteria on candidate eligibility. If you have any questions about student eligibility, please contact our team at hello@toptask.co.uk.

■ If you have any issues attending your appointment, please make sure to let our team know in advance.

After your interview, your profile will be submitted for approval by the Toptask Registration Team. If you are successful, you will receive an email from our team to notify you. Due to the high volume of applications we receive, we are unable to provide feedback to all candidates, therefore if you have not heard from us within one week please assume that your application has not been successful.

Things to remember.

■ Only apply for tasks you feel confident carrying out. Remember to double check start-time, date and location before applying.

■ You can choose to submit a Cover Letter with your application. Cover Letters act as a one-way messaging feature that enables you to pitch to Employers for each individual task.

■ Please remember to withdraw your application if you are no longer available for a task. This is very important.

■ Once booked, use the chat feature to stay in touch with your Employer.

■ Press the 'Complete' button after the task has been carried out to ensure your Employer confirms its completion.

■ Payments are processed every Monday. It can take up to 48 hours for the funds to appear in your bank account.
